We have a challenging ‘project’ for a smart, confident, and experienced front end developer; we are embarking upon a rewrite of our sister company’s legacy systems. These are moving from on-prem to AWS, from Oracle to MySQl, from client-server to API.

You’d be joining a skilled and established small team - most of whom are based in Nottingham. Your role could be office-based (with 2 or 3 optional days wfh) or fully remote, with periodic meetings and get-togethers at the Nottingham office when Covid permits. To facilitate these meetings we would prefer a UK-based candidate.

You must be willing to take a lead in introducing new frameworks and development methodologies to our business. We’re currently considering moving to Gitlab - if you arrive soon enough you could perhaps influence that decision - we’re a collaborative bunch of people.

Must haves:

  • 5+ years of front end experience in senior/leading roles
  • Deep knowledge of Javascript frameworks eg React.js and Vue.js
  • Extensive experience using RESTful APIs
  • Version control with GIT / Bitbucket

Nice to haves:

  • Node.js and Selenium
  • Full stack background
  • Experience working with very large datasets
  • Fortran (only joking)


Part of the legacy migration has already happened, eg payroll, but the fun stuff awaits. You would be assisting in the architecting of the new cloud system, and you would also work closely with our designer, who would deliver designs to you in Zeplin. We would expect you to:

  • Adhere to our coding standards, but push for updates to them if you think that’s needed
  • Solve problems independently and as part of the team
  • Deliver an outstanding UI/UX for the customer (in the case of this project, our sister company Logobrand)

You would be creating an entire suite of bespoke project management tools - maintenance screens, reports, alerts, live chat, etc. In particular it’s worth mentioning these aspects of the work:

  • Graphing and chart libraries e.g. Highcharts or similar
  • Mobile friendly development and responsive layouts
  • Integrated mapping and map based maintenance and reporting, e.g. using Leaflet
  • Drag and drop (we really, really, like drag and drop)
  • Uploads to and downloads from secure buckets
